Currently, car buyers naturally want a vehicle that can do it all – go fast, be easy to drive, and everything in between. And while many searches for those characteristics in the modern crossover segment, this is perhaps one of the first models to offer such a combination. Which raises the question – what would a modern Chevy El Camino look like?
To catch up on the past event – Chevrolet El Camino was one of the most popular American cars. Chevrolet withdrew it back in 1987 and had no plans to revive it.
Design
To fill in, Casados Design, a metalworking shop in Alabama, is building its own contemporary version.
The custom pickup truck is constructed on a 2010 Camaro, which has been briefly modified. The frame has been extended and the rear doors have been removed to fit the bed. The Camaro was never planned to be transformed into a pickup, but the bed blends with the body impeccably without ruining the proportions.
As an aluminum diffuser and rear bumper cover were fitted, the design elements and proportions have been confirmed, so a lot of advancement has been made since work on the project began around two months ago. Casados Design also has an idea to add an extra pair of exhaust tips to make the Camaro-based pickup look more aggressive.
Though it looks like a modern-day El Camino, the designer says the client didn’t want to duplicate a current car but rather, think of another idea with his own very specific parameters. Obviously, a lot of work and passion is being poured into this project, and everybody is anticipating seeing the final result.
And now it is certainly more than ever. The 2023 Chevy El Camino is seemingly coming to the dealerships later next year.
2023 El Camino Renderings Are Looking Exciting
New renderings of the 2023 Chevy El Camino have appeared. Unsurprisingly, rendering visuals are not entirely reliable. Still, we now have a better impression of pickup design and potential revival. It is very obvious that the new El Camino is a little pickup truck inspired by the Silverado model.
It could arrive as a two-door utility pickup with eye-catching double-spoke wheels. Moreover, the black grille and chunky rubber are directly noticeable. Certain aspects of these photos are extremely doubtful. For example, it is not believed the CornerStep feature will be offered at all. El Camino’s most likely future construction will be unibody, like of its potential competition, the Ford Maverick.
Engine Specs
This is an exciting subject because Chevrolet offers so many engine options. The 2023 Chevy El Camino will not need as much power, and larger engines will be unobtainable. Thus, the arriving Chevrolet pickup truck will almost undoubtedly include smaller four-cylinder and V6 engines. At this time, the Colorado mid-size truck offers a supreme lineup that is a perfect fit for the El Camino variant as well.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrain with 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, for instance, is a perfect choice. The V6 engine, in contrast, will be optional. The only smaller V6 engine is a 3.6-liter one that produces nearly 300 horsepower. Evidently, hybrid or even all-electric variants are always an option. In addition, there is a sportier El Camino SS version as well.
2023 Chevy El Camino Price and Release Date
The 2023 Chevy El Camino is not yet official. Right now, the odds of it making a comeback are thin. Nevertheless, some media continue to write about its remarkable comeback. Even so, many fans anticipate the release of a new Chevrolet pickup in the nearest future.
