The upcoming 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck is more possible than ever before. Even though it didn’t last for long, the Baja truck is highly ranked among Subaru enthusiasts. It has been in production only for a few years, but it left a big impact on the market. If the latest reports can be trusted, the Japanese manufacturer is about to bring back a pickup design to its lineup. Although it will most likely feature a different nameplate, this rumor is pretty exciting.

2023 Subaru Pickup Truck render

At the moment, the actual name is still unknown, so we will name it for now 2023 Subaru Baja Pickup Truck. Without a doubt, the Japanese brand lacks changeability, and a pickup truck is a must. Various reports are already written about this new model. The truth is, we don’t have any official information yet.

The managers are still quiet on this matter, so these are only speculations about the new model. At this moment, one of the few things that seem like certainty is the platform, which would feature a typical unibody layout. On the other hand, it is expected that the new model will feature a bigger size compared to its predecessor.

2023 Subaru Baja Pickup Truck Design

As already mentioned, we can only wonder about the new pickup. Thanks to KDesign AG – Kleber Silva, and subtle-solutions.com we have these fantastic renders of the 2023 Subaru Wilderness truck. This wasn’t supposed to be a conventional pickup with a body-on-frame platform. As an alternative, it could highlight a modern, unibody design, which could bring a little bit different ride quality compared to traditional pickups. This mainly refers to the ride quality, which would be fairly similar to a crossover.

Then again, the main disadvantage of this design is the lack of towing capacity. We don’t believe that this pickup will be able to tow more than 5.000 pounds. For example, traditional mid-size pickups such as Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado can tow over 7.500 pounds.

Exterior Design

Regarding the exterior design, we assume that the 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck will compete in the mid-size segment. This points out that most of the parts will be shared with Ascent. The mid-size SUV has been present on the market for a while and it has a lot of good things to offer. We expect that the new pickup could feature the same front-end styling. Alternatively, the rest of the vehicle would have a typical pickup layout. Probably, a crew cab model will be the only version.

Interior Design

It is believed that on the inside a lot of things would also be shared with the Ascent SUV. Above all this refers to the dashboard design. We can expect the same layout, which results in a nice combination of fine materials, good build quality, lots of standard equipment, etc. As already mentioned, the crew cab model should be the only one on the offer, which indicates that we are going to see a couple of comfortable rows of seats, with a seating capacity of five.

2023 Subaru Pickup Truck Engine Options

As for the powertrain, the first engine that occurs to us is a 2.4-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with a CVT gearbox, while Subaru’s famous all-wheel-drive system would be standard without a doubt.

There is also possible to see something less powerful, held in reserve for the base version. That would most likely be a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, which puts out 182 horsepower. That would also come in pair with a CVT.
